(1976, Marosvásárhely, Romania) The latest and youngest member of Várfok Gallery, who graduated at the Hungarian Art Academy in 2000, is going to bring out his works in October with a one-man show. Herman, who has participated several times at group exhibitions in Várfok Gallery for over a year, became official member of the Gallery this September. His present exhibition with the title Adam and Eve, is the latest – but not the ultimate – phase of a monumental cycle, started years ago.
The artist articulates his absolutely modern, disturbingly critical aspect with distinctive professionalism, traditional technique and delicate colouring. Using symbolic, often biblical elements, Herman delves into metaphysical questions, like the birth of Man, his initial purity and eventual inherent tendency to kill, to destroy his surroundings. Despite his melancholic style, Herman still believes in future, the resurrection of mankind, for nature is able to renew itself as well – as represented in The New Paradise Project sequence.
The unusual, deep and peaceful scenes drow the spectator into their fictious reality and open up the gates of a new world.
